So the so called “Biblical” game, Green Bay Packers vs. Detroit Lions, did not start off as what you would call “Biblical”. What happened Aaron Rodgers? It definitely looked like Detroit was the better team in the first half, with Goff making perfect executive decisions on the fly! Goff really did look like the better QB this game.

Big Talk Around 1st Half – Jared Goff!

Jared Goff’s performance in the first half was absolutely spectacular. He ended the first quarter 8/8 in completions and 1 TD. And then to end the 1st half, Goff was 13/16 137 yards and 2 TD (one to Cephus and one to T.J. Hockenson). With Detroits’ depleted WR core, it may look like that Detroit found their new WR 1, 2nd year Quintez Cephus. An interesting stat stated at half time was Goff’s average time in the pocket was 3.2 seconds, which is the longest in the NFL.

Slow Start for Aaron Rodgers!

As for Aaron Rodgers, his stats looked okay 8/10 75 yards 2 TD, but anyone who was watching would tell you other wise. He had a very quiet start and made a few poor decisions and missed a wide open Marquez Valdes-Scantling in the Red Zone. However on that same drive, Aaron Rodgers desperately connected with Aaron Jones for the 2nd time in the game. As mentioned by one of the commentators, one of Aaron Rodgers weaknesses is when there are two safeties up top in zone coverage. On one of the plays, you could clearly see Aaron Rodgers hesitate to throw the ball down the sideline to the open receiver. Instead, he played it safe and threw the ball to the flats to open Davante Adams.

“Is Aaron Rodgers under too much scrutiny on and off the field?”

To start the 2nd half, the was score 17-14 Detroit. On the first drive in the 3rd Quarter Green Bay ball, Aaron Rodger gets sacked hard for the second time of the night. But on the very next play he answers back with a deep ball perfectly thrown down the sideline to Davante Adams. Such a beautiful throw he put the ball about 20-30 yards a head of Adams for him to run under it for a 50-yard completion. Later on in the same drive, he connects a bullet right in the middle of the field to Robert Tonyan for a 22-yd Touchdown.

As the Lions defense put more pressure and watched the run, this opened up the passing game for Rodgers. Unfortunately, it was Aaron Rodgers who could not throw the ball consistently and always shaving to settle with Aaron Jones to run the ball. Rodger’s performance actually raises many questions about his future and how the rest of the season will play out. Remember this was suppose to be a blow-out, Packers are playing the Lions (the 2nd worse team in the NFL to begin the 2021 season)

So conclude this “Biblical” game…

You can certainly say this was not Aaron Rodgers best game of his career, but he did as expected. The real hype to start Tuesday off will be around Aaron Jones, who if nay had the biblical performance. Aaron Rodgers played as expected but did not go above in beyond in his performance. What was unexpected by many, was Jared Goff all around great performance and some would say better than Rodgers. Packers win final score 35-17.

For fantasy lovers, the talk is all about Aaron jones putting up nearly 26 points in the first half and to end the game with a whopping 41.5 fantasy points.
